Miami is returning to Nike after more than a decade under Adidas.
The switch was reported on Wednesday, as Miami and Nike agreed to a 10-year contract that includes $200M+ — one of the most lucrative apparel deals in college football history.
At least one national media member is excited about the change. Responding to the report that Miami is making the apparel switch, Kirk Herbstreit commented, “Thank goodness. Miami players (are) too good to be wearin those baggy ass pants!!! Great news for the Canes!”

— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) September 16, 2026Isn’t it nice to have Miami back in the national discussion again?
The Hurricanes have been revitalized by head coach Mario Cristobal and the onset of the NIL era. Miami competed for a national championship last year and came closer than most to defeating the powerhouse that was Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Hoosiers. The Canes fell all the same, 27-21.
Miami has started the season on fire, too. Led by quarterback Darian Mensah and Heisman candidate Malachi Toney, the Canes are 2-0 on the season with wins over Stanford and Florida A&M. Miami beat the Cardinal and Rattlers by a combined score of 122-13.
It’ll be a while before Miami faces a team of consequence, though. The Canes’ toughest opponents include Notre Dame (Nov. 7), Clemson (Oct. 3) and North Carolina (Oct. 31) — all on the road.
