Mickey Rourke is a former professional boxer-turned-award-winning actor.
Born on Sept. 16, 1952, Rourke is celebrating his 74th birthday.
He hit the big screen as an arsonist in the 1981 erotic thriller Body Heat, but it was his role in Diner that helped launch him to fame.
Decades later, he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Randy “The Ram” Robinson in the 2008 film The Wrestler.
Rourke told Rotten Tomatoes that The Wrestler was one of his best films, adding that he had to gain muscle and learn how to wrestle for the role.
Rourke’s birthday comes just over six months after a judge ruled in favor of his landlord in an eviction case tied to his L.A. home.
Court documents obtained by PEOPLE revealed that landlord Eric T. Goldie was granted possession of the property after a default judgment. Earlier filings alleged Rourke owed $59,100 in back rent.

According to the Utah government, production for the film wrapped in April. An official release date has not been announced.
