1990s country music superduo Brooks & Dunn will attend this year’s CMA Awards as very important guests.
The duo of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn will accept the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award — one of the most prestigious awards in the genre. It’s not an annual category during the show; rather, the trophy is handed out when it’s an appropriate time to spotlight a truly outstanding artist.
In 2026, that act is Brooks & Dunn.
Per the CMA, the “CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to an iconic artist who has attained the highest degree of recognition in country music. The award recognizes those who have achieved both national and international prominence and stature through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, streaming numbers, record sales, and public representation at the highest level. The artist receiving this award has positively impacted and contributed to the growth of the genre over the course of many years and has proven to have an unprecedented historical impact on fans and industry alike.”
Brooks & Dunn debuted in the late 1980s and went on to release 20 No. 1 hits across three decades, including “My Maria,” “Play Something Country,” “Red Dirt Road,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” and 16 others, despite a several-year break in the 2010s. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
“Few artists have left a mark on country music quite like Brooks & Dunn,” CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern explains in a press release.
“Their music has set a standard that still resonates with new generations of artists, while continuing to win over new generations of fans,” she adds. “We are proud to celebrate everything they’ve given to this genre and the mark they continue to leave on its future.”

The 2026 CMA Awards will take place on November 18, 2026, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. “Country Music’s Biggest Night” will air live via ABC and Disney+ and can be streamed in the days after via Hulu. The show starts at 7PM ET.
