‘Shazam!’ Star Opens Up On Major Life Change: ‘Very Compelled by God’ ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

Zachary Levi went from sitcom funnyman in Chuck to DC superhero in Shazam!, and has since focused more on his own well-being, recently opening up about a huge life change.

The 45-year-old actor is making his rounds promoting his new action-thriller, The Fix.

Despite his success, he’s not holding back on the industry, going as far as to say, “I love California,” only to add, “It is a failed state. It is literally and figuratively on fire,” in an interview with Fox News Digital.

His comments come after devastating wildfires left scars across areas such as Malibu and the Pacific Palisades, where many famous faces have long called home.

These days, Levi is settled in Texas, opting not to fork over multiple commas on a Bel Air mansion in favor of a ranch outside the Lone Star capital of Austin.

He’s one of many celebs to follow suit in the “California exodus,” such as Joe Rogan, Dennis Quaid, and James Van der Beek before his tragic passing.

In fact, he’s also behind Wyldwood Studios, an ambitious $100 million-plus film and lifestyle development taking shape on 75 acres near Austin in Bastrop, ironically, a town with its own devastating history of wildfires.

“Ever since I started working in Hollywood and I saw how broken it all was, I felt very compelled by God to go build a better Hollywood,” Levi explained.

“We look at the regular world around us, and we see it burning. And we’re like, ‘Can we do this better? I feel like we can do this better,” Levi added. “So, that all culminated in nine years ago, me finding 75 acres outside of Austin, Texas, to buy, to develop, to turn into this magical kind of idea. That’s why I left.”

He doesn’t appear to miss the beach either. “Fortunately, Austin’s awesome. It’s great, you know?” Levi said. “It can get kinda hot in the summer and kinda cold in the wintertime, but I can deal with it.”

Levi may have left Hollywood behind geographically, but certainly not professionally.

He can currently be seen alongside Liam Neeson in the new action-thriller The Fix, which hit theaters on Sept. 11 and has since been slammed by critics, despite earning a much warmer 79% score from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Levi stars as Tucker, the leader of a group of war-torn former CIA operatives who head to Tehran years after a mission in Afghanistan goes tragically wrong.

The R-rated film, directed by Guy Moshe, is currently playing exclusively in theaters and is not yet available to stream.
