Brooke Williamson revealed the surprisingly sneaky way her boyfriend managed to determine her exact ring size before gifting her a diamond. At the time, she had no idea what he was up to.
While appearing on Carson Kressley’s podcast on Tuesday, September 8, the 48-year-old discussed the ring Flay, 61, gave her as a symbol of his commitment. Though the couple is not engaged, she explained, “He gave me a gorgeous ring.”
“He wanted to show his level of commitment to me with a gorgeous big diamond ring, and I’m not gonna argue that,” she added.
But Flay took it upon himself to guess her ring size. Williamson recalled sitting in his kitchen one night while wearing another ring. Flay complimented it, asked to see it, and slipped it onto his own finger. At the time, she apparently didn’t think much of the interaction.
“He put it on his finger and saw exactly where it came to on his finger,” Williamson explained. Flay then went to his cousin, who is a jeweler, and used that reference to determine the correct size. The plan worked perfectly. Williamson said her new diamond didn’t need to be resized at all, meaning she could immediately start wearing it.

“It was really sweet, very thoughtful, very sweet, very romantic,” she said, adding of Flay’s softer side, “A lot of people don’t see that or know that.”
And the diamond isn’t the only way Williamson is adjusting to their increasingly serious relationship. The chef also revealed that she’s undergoing treatment for a lifelong cat allergy because Flay owns Maine Coons. After learning allergy shots would require weekly appointments, Williamson was instead given drops that she puts under her tongue every morning.
“In 3 to 5 years, I should not be allergic to cats,” she said, to which Kressley responded, “That’s love.”
