While visiting Ireland for a two-day trip centered around the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament and meetings with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, President Donald Trump took some time out of his busy schedule to celebrate his grandson Luke’s 9th birthday.
In sweet family photos shared by Trump’s daughter-in-law and Fox News host, Lara Trump, the 80-year-old POTUS can be seen smiling alongside his son Eric Trump, Lara, Luke, and granddaughter Carolina, as they pose in front of Luke’s sports-themed birthday cake.
“No better way to celebrate being 9 than in Ireland with Grandpa! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUKE,” Lara captioned the photos taken at the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg, Ireland.

“Watching him play with them, I mean, you really see another side of Donald Trump,‘’ Don Jr. told The Today Show. “There is the image [of] the business guy, but when you see him around a family table. I mean, the sense of humor, the love, you know, playing golf with my 20-month-old, like teaching her how to swing a golf club, it’s a special moment. It’s really incredible to watch, and it’s a totally different side no one really gets to see.”
Noticeably missing from the family trip is Trump’s wife, Melania. He commented on her absence, telling reporters in Dublin, “My wife is here in spirit. She’s watching right now. She said to say hello,” before adding, “I said, ‘Well, why don’t you want to come with me?’ She said, ‘Well, that’s a seven-hour trip. Maybe I’m not that friendly.'”
Trump is expected back from Ireland with his family on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
