More than 45 years after releasing their compilation album Hot Rocks 1964-1971, the legendary rock band has re-entered the Billboard 200 albums chart, coming in at No. 190 for the week dated Saturday, Sept. 12.
The return of Hot Rocks to Billboard’s top albums chart brings the record’s total to 444 weeks on the chart—the most of any Rolling Stones album.
The famous album features some of the band’s most iconic tracks, including fan-favorites like “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Paint It, Black,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Wild Horses” and more hits released between 1964 and 1971. The record debuted on the Billboard 200 less than a month after its release, peaking at No. 4 by February 1972.

Interestingly, the Rolling Stones had no involvement in the release of the album, which was instead spearheaded by their former manager, Allen Klein. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the band had no say in which songs were included or how they were sequenced, having previously signed over the copyright to their catalog.

Still, Hot Rocks ended up becoming one of the best-selling albums from the Rolling Stones’ entire discography. In 2002, it was certified 12x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), signifying 12 million units sold.
