Read on for everything you need to know about the ending of Ludwig season 2.

Ludwig season 2 ending explained: Who killed Chief Constable Ziegler?

Lucy and John then came to wonder whether something else was at play - whether James had framed Kemper for Ziegler's murder in order to bring her to justice and end her reign of terror.

It turned out that, the night she had died, Ziegler's daughter Mandy, who was also Russell's fiancée, had been on her way to meet James, to hand over evidence of her father covering up crimes for Kemper.

He had formed a plan to frame Kemper, as she couldn't be tied to any of the murders she had actually committed. He stole her gun, timed his suicide around her visit to his house, and left clues suggesting she was the guilty party. He believed he was getting justice for his daughter.

What did we learn about Joanne Kemper?

We still don't know exactly what dodgy deeds she's been up to or why.

Conspiracy theorist Roger Sinclair had stumbled upon this connection, and suggested on his blog that Kemper and her family had been committing ritual sacrifices for generations in order to maintain political power. This was, of course, nonsense, but the link being made apparent meant Sinclair had to die.

Kemper had Chief Constable Ziegler in hock to her, and it seems he then orchestrated the murder of Rhys Bowen, a local burglar who Sinclair's death was pinned on and who was awaiting trial. His death was made to look like a suicide.

Where did we leave John, Lucy and the team?

As for the police team, they were more unified than ever. While Ethan and Caitlin believed John was secretly a member of MI5, everyone was otherwise on the same page, brought into the investigation surrounding Kemper.
