Randy Travis officially has new music on the way. The country music legend announced on Friday, Sept. 4, that Same Old Way, a Warner Records Nashville release, is due out Nov. 13, marking Travis’ first album with new material in 18 years.
Taking to Instagram to share the news with fans, the Country Music Hall of Famer’s team wrote, “Following his 2013 stroke, fans and music industry insiders alike weren’t sure that a project like this would ever be possible again, but Randy continues to make history, and this album is living proof of that.”

According to the team, Same Old Way is a collection of previously unreleased recordings spanning Travis’ career from 1986 to 2013, before Travis suffered a near-fatal stroke. To give fans a sneak peek into the album, they released the album’s title track on the same day as the record announcement (hear it below).
Penned by Travis with his longtime producer and friend, Kyle Lehning, it’s the only song the two have written together, and the first time Lehning has had a major songwriting credit.
“Lehning uncovered the tracks on this album after years of them being locked away in the vault,” the team shared. “He assembled, remixed, and remastered the recordings with Randy’s input, giving the world 12 more original Randy Travis songs and bringing back his iconic, irreplaceable voice that still holds to this day.”
In addition to the title track, Travis has thus far released “Fish On” and “I Don’t Care” from Same Old Way.
“We can’t wait for you to take a listen to the iconic, authentic voice of Randy Travis,” the team added, “and be sure to pre-save the album to be one of the first to listen when the album comes out!”
