LE ROY, N.Y. — One person is dead after a wrong-way crash late Friday involving three vehicles on the New York State Thruway in Genesee County.
Investigators say a pickup truck was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes. It hit an SUV just after 10:30 p.m. A tractor-trailer was also involved in the crash. The Le Roy Fire District says one of the vehicles caught fire, trapping the driver inside.
The pickup truck driver was killed. He has been identified as Josias Perez, 26, from Caruthers, California.
The SUV’s driver, a 44-year-old Canandaigua woman, is at Strong Hospital in Rochester. No one was hurt in the tractor-trailer.
Several viewers reached out to News10NBC asking what was happening on the Thruway. One woman reported being stuck in traffic for four hours.
The road reopened Saturday morning. State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
