BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) – The I-90 Bowl Rivalry Game is staying in the hands of the Brockport football team following a 68-0 blowout of Buffalo State. It’s the largest margin of defeat in program history.
Brockport got out to a fast start, scoring two touchdowns in the first half and leading 35-0 at halftime. After pouring rain and nasty weather delayed the start of the second half, the Golden Eagles barely slowed down, with a quick pick six from Malik Kelly, 35 yards on the run back. Two more touchdowns, a field goal, and a safety later, and a 68-0 defeat was born.
Starring in the big win was former Aquinas running back Derrion Battle. The Brockport freshman rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries. As a team, Brockport gained 342 yards on the ground.
The passing attack wasn’t shy either. Three quarterbacks combined for 13-of-14 passing for 161 yards and a pair of TDs. QB Zymier Jackson completed both of his passes and also rushed in for two scores.
Week 2, Brockport football plays at Hobart, which should be a far more competitive game on the scoreboard.
