This ‘Full House’ Star Just Teamed Up With an ’80s Music Icon for a Surprising New Song ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

Two ’80s stars just collabbed on a new music video, and the track is giving major ’80s nostalgia vibes. Rocker Richard Marx and former Full House actor John Stamos got together to record a tribute to the Sunshine State, ‘Take Care of California.’ And that’s not even the best part.

Marx and Stamos did more than just make music. The pair also filmed a video for their new song that features throwbacks to Stamos’s Full House days, photos of his family, and clips of himself performing with Marx. Fans of the ‘Right Here Waiting’ singer can also catch a glimpse of a few rare retro photos of Marx from his earlier years.

Stamos opened up about his inspiration for the song, telling People, “‘Take Care of California’ started with something simple: my songwriting partner Michael Gigante and I realized how much we long for California whenever we’re away.”

The actor continued, “I’ve spent a good part of my life traveling for work, and there’s always that moment when you come back and think, this is home. So we wrote a love letter to the state that has given us so much.”

‘Take Care of California’, which he co-wrote with Michael Campion and Gigante, also features Mickey Raphael on harmonica and Waylon Payne (whose father is Willie Nelson’s guitarist Jody Payne) on background harmonies. Stamos explained how he connected with Payne, revealing, “Willie Nelson recently asked me to play with his band at the Hollywood Bowl, and I borrowed both Mickey and Waylon on our track.”

The actor also spoke to People about how the Stamos-Marx partnership came to be, saying that, “There was still something missing.” He continued, “When my buddy Richard Marx asked me to play on his new album, ‘After Hours,’ I shared a rough mix of ‘Take Care of California’ with him. I may have hinted subtly, or not so subtly, that his voice would sound pretty great on it.”

Marx shared his take on how it all began: “He played me a rough mix of this new song he wrote with his buddy, Michael. I genuinely liked it and couldn’t get it out of my head.”
