After making more than 1,000 house calls to help fix what’s broken, the resourceful team behind PBS’ beloved series Ask This Old House says there will never be a shortage of homeowner questions to address. So it’s a good thing they’re returning to address even more!
On Tuesday, September 1, PBS announced the show has been renewed for a whopping 25th season, scheduled to premiere on October 1. Kevin O’Connor has served as host the entire time, and wouldn’t think of missing the DIY home renovation show’s silver anniversary.
“The best part of this job is watching somebody realize they can do it themselves,” O’Connor said in a statement. “Twenty-five seasons in, that hasn’t changed. Homeowners keep asking, and we keep showing up. We’re not just fixing houses – we’re building confident homeowners.”
The Emmy-winning DIY show has been filmed at over 1,000 homes in all 50 states, two foreign countries, and even at NASA‘s Johnson Space Center, per PBS. In each episode, a team of experts visits real-life homeowners who need help solving everything from plumbing problems to landscaping issues to renovation crises.
General Contractor Tom Silva has been making those house calls during all 25 seasons, so the team is jokingly calling the show’s silver anniversary the “Silva” anniversary season. He’s not the only familiar face returning, though.
According to PBS, the following experts are all coming back for Season 25: Plumbing and Heating Expert Richard Trethewey, Landscape Contractor Jenn Nawada, Mason Mark McCullough, Master Electrician Heath Eastman, Painter Mauro Henrique, Carpenter Nathan Gilbert, Building Engineer Ross Trethewey, Landscaper Lee Gilliam, and General Contractor Zack Dettmore.

“The way people learn, watch and ask questions has changed dramatically over 25 seasons,” she said, “And we’ve evolved with them – from how we film and tell stories to the ways people can access our experts and information. What hasn’t changed is the heart of the show: meeting homeowners where they are, working alongside them and giving them the confidence to take that next step.”
Ask This Old House is a spinoff of its even longer-running predecessor, This Old House, which was renewed earlier this year for a 48th season. Both series will return with new episodes on Thursday, October 1 (check local listings for times) and will be available to stream on The Roku Channel beginning on Monday, October 5.
The team behind the show hopes 25 is their lucky number, since the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on October 30. Ask This Old House won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Program in 2019, and is up for two awards in 2026: Outstanding Instructional / How-To Program and Outstanding Writing for a Daytime Non-Fiction Series.
