A boat racing at over 200 mph crashed on Lake of the Ozarks over the weekend, leaving at least one driver in serious condition.
The crash happened during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, which is described by organizers as “the largest powerboating event in the world.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said it responded to the scene after the “Dirty Duck experienced some airtime” during the event.
Video shared by the department showed the boat going airborne and flipping numerous times before landing upright on the water.
Police said the 45-year-old driver of the boat suffered serious injuries, but a 39-year-old throttleman was not injured.
Police noted the boat was traveling at a speed of at least 200 mph.
Organizers of the event said the boat “was clocked at 213 mph.” They noted that both the driver and throttleman were expected to be OK.
