White Sox’ Jordan Leasure Undergoes UCL Surgery ...Middle East

News by : (MLBtraderumors) -

White Sox reliever Jordan Leasure underwent surgery to repair a UCL tear a few weeks ago, the team announced (relayed by Scott Merkin of MLB.com). He’ll miss the entire 2027 season and is expected to be ready for the beginning of Spring Training ’28.

That means it’s essentially a two-year absence for the 28-year-old righty. Leasure was limited to 18 appearances this season. He’d attempted to pitch through some elbow discomfort but was shut down in late May with what the team initially diagnosed as a flexor strain. That apparently also involved ligament damage that required the reconstructive operation.

Leasure is in his third season at the MLB level. He broke camp in 2024 and was in the big league bullpen all of last year. Leasure tossed 64 1/3 innings of 3.92 ERA ball and led White Sox relievers with 80 strikeouts in 2025. He worked his way into leverage spots and picked up seven saves. Leasure wasn’t nearly as effective this year, allowing 14 runs across 18 2/3 innings and spending a couple weeks on optional assignment to Triple-A.

The injury doesn’t have any short-term changes for the White Sox. It was already apparent Leasure wasn’t coming back this season. He’ll end the year on the 60-day injured list and will either need to be reinstated onto the 40-man roster or placed on waivers at the beginning of the offseason.
