Kiran Amegadjie will not be returning to the Chicago Bears.
Not to the team’s active roster. And not even on its practice squad.
Instead, Amegadjie gets a new lease on a football life with a change of scenery in 2026. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the 2024 third-round pick will be joining the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad:

— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) August 31, 2026More on Amegadjie’s cut from Sunday’s post:
The Bears used a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Amegadjie, who was a standout performer at Yale. A top-100 prospect in his draft class, Amegadjie was a developmental project with desirable size and tools. Unfortunately, it never translated to on-the-field production. Maybe he could benefit from a fresh start with a new team.
For what it’s worth, the Bears tried to make things work with the local product who played his high school ball at Hindsale Central. They tried him at right and left tackle. He even spent some time at guard. Nothing ever stuck for Kiran Amegadjie, who found himself without a seat in the team’s game of offensive line musical chairs.
Unfortunately, Amegadjie’s career in Chicago never took off. Injuries and ineffective play kept him from reaching the potential that comes with someone who has desired measurables and traits. But just because it didn’t work out with the Bears doesn’t mean it can’t work out well elsewhere. The Eagles have a good reputation for developing offensive linemen. Perhaps this is where he can generate some positive momentum in his career.

Kiran Amegadjie was a third-round pick in Bears General Manager Ryan Poles’ 2024 NFL Draft class. A product of suburban Hinsdale Central, who played collegiately at Yale, Amegadjie was a fun story to follow for obvious reasons. Who doesn’t love a story featuring a player with local ties? Alas, it just wasn’t meant to be.
We will continue to monitor the league-wide roster shuffle as news keeps hitting the timeline. For example, the New Orleans Saints claimed Bears offensive lineman Mason Murphy off waivers. Murphy, an undrafted rookie, signed with Chicago back in the spring and played in all three of the team’s preseason games. If the Bears were hoping to slide him through waivers and put him on the practice squad, they will need to pivot elsewhere.
