While Dancing with the Stars may be in the future for Jenna Dewan, on Monday she took a look back at a role that put her dancing skills on the map.
“Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since Step Up was released,” she captioned an Instagram gallery filled with images from the iconic film. “The movie that changed my life forever. The way you guys love this movie all these years later is beyond.”

When her dance partner was no longer to perform with her for an important end-of-year routine, Tyler Gage, played by Channing Tatum, steps in and incorporates his hip-hop moves into her ballet number. Along the way, the two form a romantic connection.
Off screen Dewan and Tatum also had a relationship. The two dated on the heels of the movie’s release and were married from 2009-2018. They welcomed daughter Everly in 2013.
The dancer, however, had quite the resume before taking on what would be considered her breakout role. Before the film, along with starring in several other movies, she was a dancer on tour, most notably with Janet Jackson. She also toured with Justin Timberlake and danced in music videos for Missy Elliot and Mandy Moore in the early 2000s.

Fast forward to 2026 though, and Dewan is rumored to be joining Dancing with the Stars. And while the full cast announcement will be released on Sept. 2, multiple outlets have reported that the Step Up icon, who now stars on The Rookie, will be taking on the ballroom.
Earlier this year when asked if she was interested in joining the show she said, “The thing with me is like I never say never because I love dancing so much and I miss it so much,” she said. “I just already know myself that it would be one of those really hard things to say no to.”Along with Dewan, former Bachelor star Tyler Cameron is said to be joining as well.
As for stars that will be on DWTS officially, Season 35 cast members include reality stars Ciara Miller and Maura Higgins, Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson and Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez.?
