A person has been stealing electric scooters in numerous Chicago neighborhoods over the last two months, according to an alert from Chicago police.
According to the alert, at least seven thefts have occurred over the last two months, with the two most recent thefts occurring in the Lincoln Square neighborhood in recent days.
In each of the thefts, police say an individual has carved out the ignition on electric scooters to bypass the key start function, and has stolen the scooters from various parts of the city.
Thefts have been reported in Lincoln Square, Roscoe Village, Lake View East, and Uptown, according to Chicago police.
The suspect is described as a man in his 50s, wearing a white shirt, blue shorts and a fanny pack, according to authorities.
The thefts have been reported:
-700 block of West Brompton on June 9 at 1 p.m. (Lake View East)
-4100 block of North Sheridan on June 21 at 12 p.m. (Uptown)
-3500 block of North Lake Shore Drive on June 30 at 6:30 p.m. (Lake View East)
-600 block of West Briar Place on July 8 at 2 p.m. (Lake View East)
-1900 block of West Roscoe on July 21 at 3 p.m. (Roscoe Village)
-4600 block of North Western on August 18 at 6 p.m. (Lincoln Square)
-4700 block of North Western on August 22 at 7 p.m. (Lincoln Square)
