U.S. Para Pan Pacific Championships athletes will be able to earn prize money for their performances at this weekend’s Para Pan Pacific Championships through Ali Truwit‘s “Stronger Than You Think Performance Incentive Fund”.
The Para Pan Pacific Championships kick off on Friday, and on Thursday, the “Stronger Than You Think Performance Incentive Fund” organized by U.S. Paralympian Ali Truwit is getting its first run in California with prize money for U.S. Para athletes based on their performance at the meet.
There are four different awards available. The first three are based on medals earned at the meet.
First Place: $3,472 Second Place: $2,083 Third Place: $1,389There is also a $10,000 award for athletes who break a world record in their event. This award can only be paid out one time per athlete per event, and the world record must be recognized by World Para Swimming to be eligible.
The top three per event will be determined using World Para Swimming points under a multi-class competition format.
Truwit started the foundation earlier this year after she learned that 57% of Team USA athletes make under $50,000 a year with many people working multiple jobs to fund their training.
This will be the first meet where the Performance Incentive Fund is active with one TBA meet to come in 2027 before the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
