Look Who Dug Into His Back of Tricks During Bears-Titans Joint Practice ...Middle East

Ball-knowers understand that Ben Johnson’s bread and butter is the running game.

But we also know that the trick plays and misdirection offerings in his offense are what people want to see.

It’s just that I wasn’t expecting to see it during a joint practice session with the Tennessee Titans.

Shout out to Twitter/X user EnEfEl_Football for sharing these plays from Thursday’s practice out in Tennessee:

Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson Gets Tricky During Joint Session With Titans

The Chicago Bears’ offense was dynamic in Year 1 under Ben Johnson. A team not known for offensive excellence finished the 2025 season with the ninth-most points and sixth-most yards. Quarterback Caleb Williams had a record-setting season as a second-year player, as the passing game finished 10th in yards and touchdown passes. Chicago’s ground game finished third in rushing yards and ninth in touchdowns. It was fun and explosive.

I had fun watching Ben Johnson deploy trick plays last season. I remember one that fueled a game-tying touchdown drive in what would turn out ot be a win against the Steelers. Turning his quarterback into a pass catcher in a win against the Bengals was cool, too. One of my favorite posts from 2025 came in early November when I shared all the gadget plays Johnson had run to that point in the season.

The Bears have long been a team associated with great defenses. But that feels like it is on the precipice of changing this year. Chicago kicks off its regular season in Carolina in just 17 days. I’m already looking forward to that first bit of trickery we see this season.
