Three special, one-of-one rookie cards for three of the top rookies in the 2025-26 class are all heading to auction! As in, the SAME auction.
Per Fanatics Collect, NBA Debut Patch Autograph cards for Rookie of the Year Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg, Charlotte Hornets wing Kon Knueppel, and San Antonio Spurs reserve (for now) guard Dylan Harper will hit the market at the company’s September Premier Auction, slated for Sept. 10-24:

— Fanatics Collect (@Collect) August 28, 2026These Topps cards all feature a unique, one-of-a-kind patch worn by their respective players during their first-ever NBA regular season contest.
Benjamin Burrows of The Athletic reports that the Flagg card should fetch millions. Burrows notes that the Mavericks themselves tried to hit the market and prevent it reaching auction, but the overtures of Dallas and other bidders were ultimately denied by the current owner.

— Ben Burrows (@BenMBurrows) August 28, 2026Per Burrows, Goldin Auctions — whose CEO Ken Goldin proposed a $1.5 million cash advance — numbered among the also-ran auction houses that lost out on the Flagg card to Fanatics Collect.
Flagg, who is launching his own card shop in his native Bangor, Maine on Sept. 12, signed the Rookie Patch card earlier this summer. Flagg’s debut rookie season contest last year coincided with Harper’s — a 125-92 blowout on Oct. 22, 2025.
Off the bench, Harper scored 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field, while grabbing four boards and dishing out two dimes in 23 minutes. Flagg proved far shakier. Earning an instant start on a doomed Dallas team, he shot just 4-of-13 from the floor for 10 points, although he did grab 10 rebounds. He also notched a -29 plus-minus to Harper’s +5.
En route to becoming Charlotte’s next centerpiece, Knueppel scored 11 points while shooting 4-of-6 from the field (3-of-4 from distance) and pulled down five rebounds in a 136-117 blowout of the lowly Brooklyn Nets. Eventually, the 21-year-old small forward shattered Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray’s prior rookie record of 3-pointers made in a first season.

This is a watershed moment for NBA collectibles, which for now have basically been dominating the world of limited-edition cards.
“I think basketball is more part of pop culture,” Fanatics Collect vice president Kevin Lenane reflected to Burrows. “You see more kids with basketball jerseys. There’s more interest in LeBron (James) and (Michael) Jordan. The intertwining (of pop culture) with basketball in particular seems to be the strongest.”
The current record for the best-selling Patch card belongs to Harper’s two-time All-Star San Antonio teammate Victor Wembanyama, whose non-autographed (!) card sold for $5.11 million to an undisclosed private buyer, according to The Athletic‘s Larry Holder.
Sure, these cards all boast autographs. But the jumbo-sized Frenchman center’s reputation as a probable generational talent, combined with the fact that the Patch was still a one-of-one, may still give him the edge.
Flagg, in theory, could also be an MVP-caliber standout with 10-plus All-Star appearances on his CV down the line. Despite a stellar debut season, however, the athletic wing’s upside isn’t at least perceived to approach Wembanyama’s just yet. Still, the growing business of card collecting — combined with the fact that Flagg’s card is signed and Wembanyama’s was not — may help Flagg set the record.
Although Flagg may have been the wrong 2026 Rookie of the Year, his remains the likeliest of the three NBA Debut Patch Autograph cards to beat the Wembanyama record.
Could Mavericks ownership outbid anyone else during the auction?
