Tim Curry Once Revealed the Iconic Movie Role That Landed Him in the Hospital: ‘It Was Exhausting’ ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

Fans have seen Tim Curry take on a wide range of roles throughout his career, from a horned demon in Legend to a less demanding role that ultimately sent him to the hospital for a specific reason.

Earlier this year, Curry looked back at his most iconic roles with The Academy, like the 1985 comedy mystery Clue. The actor recalls Jonathan Lynn having seen some of his stage work, having been to school together, and offering him the part of Wadsworth, the butler.

Anyone who has seen the cult classic film knows the pivotal role Curry played in the film as a group of six strangers gather in a secluded mansion where a series of murders take place. They are forced to uncover the killer before one of them is next. Looking back at memorabilia from the film, the Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library pulled a record from July 25 during filming.

The record showed that Curry was taken to the hospital at RAP after reporting not feeling well. It also details that the doctor reported the actor had high blood pressure. Amid Curry’s more demanding on-screen roles, Clue is one that didn’t require prosthetics or grandiose set movements. In reality, what made the actor land at the hospital was filming his popular running scene in Clue.

“That was the day we shot me running around demonstrating each murder,” recalled Curry. “It was exhausting, and I was beclemped.”

The scene they are referring to happens at a pivotal point in Clue where Wadsworth re-enacts all the murders that took place to understand everyone’s connection to the series of events. As a result, Curry is seen in the film running back and forth multiple times before three plausible endings are presented. Notes from Clue also revealed that there were originally four endings instead of three.

“There was one ending where I did all the murder, and of course that was my favorite,” said Curry. “They never released that ending because they thought it was too obvious.”

Clue wasn’t a box office success when it was released in 1985, and made a little more than its original budget at the box office. It’s since become a cult classic and one of Curry’s distinguishable roles after The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Curry was announced to have died in his home on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the age of 80. He continued acting well after his 2012 stroke that left him partially paralyzed.
