ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A local veteran is being honored for his recovery and fundraising efforts for the Brain Injury Association.

Monday was the kickoff party for the “March On for Brain Injury Walk” next month.

The honoree for the event is Chris Thomas. He is a veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and survived a hit-and-run motorcycle crash nearly three years ago that left him with a traumatic brain injury and a long road to recovery.

After extensive rehabilitation and determination, Chris is making progress.

“And now he’s back home, here he is, the prognosis didn’t look good, but he pulled through cause he’s a marine and he doesn’t quit and he knows how to fight through things,” said Chris’ girlfriend, Cathy Scarnati.

The “March On For Brain Injury” walk is being held Saturday, Sept. 26 at Seneca Park on St. Paul Street. To learn more about the walk, click here.
