Court asks police to start an investigation process to find out the truth
A local court in Jammu has directed J&K Police to start a preliminary investigation to find out whether the allegations are true or not. Sub-Judge and Special Railway Magistrate Sandeep Singh Sen directed the Nowabad Police in Jammu and Kashmir to start an inquiry and submit a report to the court. The court directed the police to submit the investigation report by or before September 3, 2026.
The allegations went to court after Sudershan Mehta, a former deputy superintendent of police and former Joint Honorary Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, filed a complaint against the BCCI president. Mehta, in his complaint, claimed that Mithun Manhas fabricated his date of birth to fetch advantage at the national junior cricket level. Sudershan Mehta accused Manhas of fraud, cheating and forgery and approached the court to register an FIR under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
