The hits keep coming for South Carolina football.
According to On3’s Chris Low, star pass rusher Dylan Stewart and starting offensive tackle Jacarrius Peak are not expected to be ready for the 2026 season as they recover from injuries.
This news comes days after South Carolina announced that wide receivers Jayden Gibson and Jayden Sellers will miss the entirety of the upcoming campaign due to injury.
When healthy, Stewart is arguably the nation’s best pass rusher off the edge. He’s recorded 22.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 6 forced fumbles over his first 2 seasons with the Gamecocks.
Stewart is reportedly dealing with a back injury that has been an issue dating back to the 2025 regular season.

Peak was one of the most significant transfer portal additions for any SEC team this offseason. He joined the Gamecocks after starring at NC State over the past 3 seasons. If healthy, he’s expected to start at offensive tackle for South Carolina in 2026.
Peak suffered a knee injury back in February and missed spring practice. However, South Carolina still hopes to have him back on the field at some point this fall.
The silver lining for South Carolina is it has a relatively easy start to the 2026 season. The Gamecocks play Kent State and Towson in the first 2 weeks of the season before hosting Mississippi State in their SEC opener.
