White Sox rookies take part in hilarious tradition at Wrigley Field ...Middle East

News by : (NBC Chicago) -

The Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs have engaged in a classic crosstown series so far this week, and the Sox participated in another iconic tradition too.

As many fans of the Cubs know, one of the unique traditions teams embark upon when they visit Wrigley Field is to have their rookies, in full uniform, go across the street from the venerable ballpark to pick up coffee orders for their veteran teammates.

Teams like the Dodgers have participated in that tradition over the years, and the White Sox took their turn on Tuesday, sending a group of players over to the Friendly Confines on a memorable coffee run.

Munetaka Murakami, Tristan Peters, and Colson Montgomery all were among those who participated, with the White Sox reporting the team had to pick up more than two dozen coffees and a box of cake pops at the Starbucks location.

It was a good thing the White Sox performed the ritual on Tuesday, since the game was delayed by more than an hour and didn’t end until the late evening hours.

There was no word on whether or not the White Sox participated in the tradition again on Wednesday, as the teams had to play a day game after the late-night finish to the contest.
