The 23-year-old is in a little bit of limbo. Luis spent his freshman season at UMass before transferring to St. John’s, where he was the Big East player of the year in 2024-25 under Rick Pitino. He averaged 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 31.8 minutes in 35 games as the Red Storm advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

After the season, Luis declared for the NBA Draft, ultimately going undrafted but signing a two-way contract with the Jazz. He was then waived and later signed with the Boston Celtics’ G League affiliate in Maine, but did not play due to injury.

As a member of the class of 2022, he would qualify for another year of eligibility under normal circumstances thanks to the Colorado injunction. Of course, this isn’t normal circumstances, given he signed a professional contract.

Now, after filing an injunction that he hopes can pave the way for him to play for LSU, he’ll have an opportunity to address it in court.
