Officials at Chicagoland Speedway in suburban Joliet confirmed that NASCAR will return to the 1.5-mile tri-oval next season, and NASCAR has confirmed to multiple media outlets that it will not hold a street race in Chicago during the 2027 season.
The street race had been held on the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago for three years between 2023 and 2025, but in 2026 NASCAR returned to the Chicagoland Speedway for the first time since the 2019 season, with Chase Briscoe winning the Cup Series race there earlier this summer.
There had been discussions held between the city of Chicago and NASCAR officials on potentially resuming the street race, although reports had indicated the race could be moved from the Fourth of July weekend.
Instead, NASCAR’s schedule in 2027 will feature a race in Joliet, with Chicago off the schedule for the second straight year.
In addition to the Cup Series race, NASCAR will also bring its O’Reilly Auto Parts Series to the track for a race on June 26, and the ARCA Menards Series will race there on June 25, 2027.
