Suburban police are investigating after a home invasion was reported in Barrington Hills in the early morning hours Sunday.
About 4:57 a.m., Barrington Hills police officers said they responded to a home on Hawthorne Lane after a 911 caller said an unknown person was inside their home.
According to police, the occupant said they were inside the bathroom when they heard noises and were confronted by man wearing all dark clothing and a mask.
The occupant yelled and screamed while attempting to close the bathroom door, police said, and the suspect fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
A preliminary investigation showed the suspect broke a window to gain access to the home. According to police, the suspect is believed to have searched the home’s master bedroom.
It wasn’t immediately clear if anything was missing from the residence. No further details were provided.
