We reported how former University of Tennessee standout Ellen Walshe produced a new Irish national record en route to placing 4th in the 2fly, hitting 2:07.40 to make history for her nation.
Ahead of the Irish woman, however, was Denmark’s Helena Rosendahl Bach, with the 26-year-old turning in a result of 2:06.14 to earn silver behind winner Keanna MacInnes of Great Britain, who touched in 2:05.80 for runner-up status.
As for Bach, the 2024 European Championships gold medalist in this event split 28.33/31.82 (1:00.15)/32.60/33.39 to overwrite her own former Danish benchmark of 2:06.65 delivered in the semi-finals of the event at the 2024 Olympic Games.
There in Paris, Bach ultimately settled for 4th place, tied with Australia’s Elizabeth Dekkers at 2:07.11.
Bach’s outing here proved Bach’s Olympic performance was anything but a fluke, cementing a new Danish national record of 2:06.14 as tonight’s silver medalist.
