Sydney LaBaugh from Coplay, Pennsylvania has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at LSU beginning in fall 2027.
I am so beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Louisiana State University! I would like to thank my parents for all their support and everything they have done to help me achieve my goals. Thank you to my family, friends, and teammates who have helped me throughout this process. I would also like to thank Coach Allie, Coach Faikish, Coach Kenrick, and all my coaches who have pushed me to be my best every day and have supported me throughout the years. In addition I would like to thank Coach Rick, Coach Brogan, and the whole LSU family for this incredible opportunity! Geaux Tigers!!
LaBaugh swims for Parkland Swimming Club and had a strong conclusion to her long course season at the ISCA Senior Blast. There she was highlighted by a win in the 100 free, posting a lifetime best 59.08. She also was 2nd in the 50 free in a lifetime best 27.29 (slightly faster in prelims with a 26.91). She also swam to wins in both the 50 and 100 butterflys, swimming lifetime bests in both as well as she swam a 28.25 50 fly and a 1:03.77 100 fly (1:03.47 in prelims).
She enters her senior year this fall at Parkland High School in Allentown, PA. This past March at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships, she was 4th in both the 100 back (55.59) and 100 fly (55.44). She notably is the school record holder in 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. She also has earned 2x Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Swimmer of the Year honors.
LaBaugh’s Best SCY Times Are:
100 fly: 54.72 100 back: 54.96 200 free: 1:50.91 100 free: 51.51The LSU women finished 5th out of 13 teams at the 2026 SEC Championships with 668.5 points, finishing right behind Alabama who was 4th with 689 points. Michaela De Villiers led the way for LSU with 66 individual points.
Based on her best times, LaBaugh is about a second and a half off what it took to make it back at SECs but she has another full year until her arrival. It took a 53.15 100 fly and a 53.78 100 back to earn a second swim.
LaBaugh will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Joice Otero Rocha and Natalie Daum.
