Army Adds Scott Fortier As Assistant Coach To Coaching Staff ...Middle East

Army has added Scott Fortier to its staff for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Fortier is the latest addition to the new-look staff led by Scott Thacker who was hired earlier this summer to be the program’s next head coach.

“I am very honored to be joining the Army West Point swimming and diving team,” said Fortier. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with cadet-athletes as they pursue excellence in and out of the pool. My family and I are so excited to be a part of this great program and academy.”

Fortier arrives after most recently spending time as head coach and program director of Cat 5 Aquatics in Panama City, Florida, a USA Swimming club. Prior to his time at Cat 5, he spent time as head coach at St. Croix Dolphins and coached the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team.

This is not Fortier’s first coaching stop at the collegiate level as he spent four seasons as assistant coach and recruiting director at the University of Cincinnati. He also has had coaching stops at LSU and Alabama. He spent his collegiate career at Alabama and swam at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. He graduated from Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in family financial planning and counseling.

Fortier is the latest addition to the Army coaching staff that will look much different for the upcoming season. Army will be in its first season under head coach Scott Thacker who arrived from VMI after Brandt Nigro departed the program to join the Texas women as an associate head coach.

Earlier this month, the program promoted Alex Cremer to men’s associate head coach and added Noah Hensley as associate head coach on the women’s side. Hensley also arrives after most recently spending time at the USA Swimming club level with Highlander Aquatics in Orlando, Florida.
