Hoff, 37, was a star of U.S. women’s swimming in the 2000s. She won a silver medal in the 400 free at the 2004 Olympics, a bronze medal in the 400 IM at the 2008 Olympics, and a bronze medal in the 800 free at the 2008 Olympics.

Her best performances came at the World Championships between those games, where she won six gold medals. Combined with a gold in the 800 free relay in 2011, all seven of her career long course World Championship medals are gold.

She retired from swimming in 2015 after battling blood clots in her lungs.

Her husband Todd Anderson played defensive line and fullback at Michigan State, and was initially a walk-on who later earned a scholarship. He now runs a swimming-focused dryland company along with Hoff.
