ROCHESTER, N.Y. — One of two people charged in a toddler’s death is expected in court on Monday.
India Duncan, the mother of 2-year-old Isaiah Jones, is charged with his murder. Her boyfriend, Joshua Velez, faces that same charge.
Rochester Police say first responders found the boy, Isaiah Jones, injured and unresponsive at a housing complex on Dewey Avenue on Sunday, May 10, and he died in the hospital eight days later. The Monroe County Medical Examiner ruled the boy’s death a homicide from non-accidental injuries to his head and body.

Officers found bite marks and bruises on the toddler. They say Isaiah had a brain bleed.
“There is no explanation as to why somebody would do something like this to a child. It’s terrible, it’s heartbreaking,” RPD Capt. Frank Umbrino said.
Both Duncan and Velez are currently in jail.
