Following the aftermath of the bloody Battle of the Gullet, Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) rode her dragon Syrax alongside Daemon (Matt Smith) to King's Landing and finally claimed the throne she had spent years fighting for. But taking King's Landing has done little to bring the Dance of the Dragons to an end.

While the Season 3 finale will not be the end of the series (there's still one more season after this), many fans will be hoping for some resolution in the upcoming episode. Here are the questions we need to get answered before we adjourn for the fourth and final season.
What will happen at Tumbleton?
James Norton and Tom Bennett in 'House of the Dragon' Season 3Theo Whiteman/HBO
But all things seem to be leading to a confrontation there. Ormund has captured Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) and plans to use him to prop up Daeron. But as the young prince noted, it may not help much to have the Sea Snake as their hostage, as the Winter Wolves are approaching the gate. Should Rhaenyra choose to send some dragonriders along with them, it seems that victory would easily be at the hand of Team Black.
And what of Hugh Hammer (Kieran Bew), who was last seen trying to get his wife to leave Tumbleton with him, only to be rejected. Hugh has remained loyal to Rhaenyra so far, but his wife's decision leaves him with a deeply personal stake in whatever happens to the city. So, after seven episodes of events surrounding Tumbleton, it seems as though it will be the center piece of a showdown in the finale.

Will Alicent kill Aemond?
Ewan Mitchell and Olivia Cooke in 'House of the Dragon' Season 3Theo Whiteman/HBO
Her first attempt to do so ended rather prematurely, with Aemond slaying the potential assassin who would have taken out the Targaryen prince. However, it seems as though Alicent has a back-up plan. She heads to the lifeless body of Ser Adrian and takes the dagger from his waist. Knowing she is no match for her son in combat, she spots a berry growing in the garden. Perhaps she could use it to poison her son?
And yet, there may be another roadblock standing between Alicent and her son: Alys Rivers (GayleRankin). The mysterious self-proclaimed witch has become increasingly close to Aemond at Harrenhal and has speaks of visions and omens, suggesting Alicent may have a difficult time carrying out any plan without her son's new lover becoming aware of it.
Will Aegon rejoin the battle?
Matthew Needham, Tom Glynn-Carney and Jefferson Hall in 'House of the Dragon' Season 3Aegon appeared to be all but out of the war, barely scraping by living in the wilderness. But what does Aegon do with all this reclaimed power? He's surely not strong enough to take on Rhaenyra at King's Landing, and his side's forces are holed up in Tumbleton. His brother, who tried to kill him, has been stationed in Harrenhal.

Where does Mysaria's influence over Rhaenyra lead?
Sonoya Mizuno in 'House of the Dragon' Season 3Ollie Upton/HBO
Those suspicions were at least partially validated when Rhaenyra discovered Daemon with Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell) and Sheepstealer. While Rhaenyra stopped short of calling his actions a betrayal, she acknowledged to Mysaria that Daemon had lied to her. But Rhaenyra also turned the accusation back on Mysaria, pointing out that she too has deceived people when necessary. Mysaria defended her actions as necessary to fulfill Viserys' vision, seemingly putting herself and Rhaenyra on the same side of a divide with Daemon on the other.
The question is what Mysaria actually wants from that influence and how far Rhaenyra will allow it to shape her decisions. With her trust in Daemon shaken and Mysaria now closer to her than ever, the finale could reveal whether this is simply an intimate relationship between two allies or the beginning of Mysaria replacing Daemon as the most influential voice at Rhaenyra's side.
What will happen to Halaena?
Phia Saban in 'House of the Dragon' Season 3Ollie Upton/HBO
That confinement has hardly been subtle. Alicent has repeatedly warned that her daughter is fragile and cannot be caged, while the season has repeatedly shown us images of creatures kept in cages. For a character with such an affinity for insects and other living things, the imagery surrounding Helaena seems particularly deliberate.
