Junior Nationals qualifier Jessica Brown has announced her verbal commitment to stay in-state and swim at Ohio University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Ohio University! I want to give a huge thank you to my family, teammates, friends, and my coaches for helping me out so much during this process. I would not be here without them! I also want to thank the whole OHIO coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity! I can’t wait to be a Bobcat!
A rising senior at Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Brown has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Dublin Community Swim Team, where she primarily specializes in freestyle and backstroke.
Brown is coming off a 2025-26 short course season that saw her have massive breakthrough in the 200 back, dropping over four seconds, as well as nice drops in the 200 free over two and a half seconds, a little over half a second inboth the 100 back and 100 free.
The future Bobcat set her current PBs of 1:55.32 in the 200 free and 2:00.86 in the 200 back at the OH MAKO Holiday Classic in December, before going on to the high school season and clocking 52.17 in the 100 free and 55.11 in the 100 back at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) C-E-SE District – Athens – D1 meet in February. A three-time qualifier for the OHSAA Division I State Championships, she went on to finish seventh in the 100 back (56.10) and 14th in the 100 free (53.06) at the state meet, her first year qualifying for an ‘A’ final.
Brown also holds a best time of 24.72 in the 50 free from the 2024-25 season; she clocked a season-best 24.97 in 2025-26.
Beyond short course swimming, Brown recently notched times of 1:03.42 and 2:19.17 in the 100/200 LCM back, qualifying her for Summer Junior Nationals.

Brown is already positioned to make an immediate impact, as her current lifetime best in the 100 back would have been quick enough to qualify for the ‘B’ final, while she’s just a few tenths shy of the 2:00.54 that was required to make the top 16 in the 200 back. She’s also within range of contributing in the free events, with times of 23.25, 50.54, and 1:50.57 needed to earn a second swim in the 50, 100, and 200 free, respectively. And she still has two full seasons of training to go before even lining up at her first conference meet.
Brown joins sprint free/fly specialist Campbell Daniel as the only publicized commits in the Bobcats’ class of 2031 so far.
Brown is not the first member of her family to swim at the collegiate level; her sister, Emily, is a rising junior at the University of Tennessee.
