ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday morning after pleading guilty to shooting and killing a 39-year-old woman outside a vacant house.
Dhymere Bailey pleaded guilty in June to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the March 2025 shooting on Spencer Street off Lake Avenue. Rochester Police said they arrived to find the victim, Sandra Blanding, dead on the sidewalk from a gunshot wound to her torso.
Two days later, officers arrested and charged Bailey. He faces 25 years to life in prison once he’s sentenced in Monroe County Court. After the deadly shooting, over 100 loved ones gathered for a memorial to honor Blanding, and her family spoke about her generosity and kindness.
