That includes, not surprisingly, several swimmers who qualified for the Junior Pan Pac roster during last week’s Nationals, headlined by Gabi Brito.
Brito, who won a pair of junior finals at Nationals and placed third overall in the 50 fly, has scratched the girls’ 50 fly and 100 back on Day 4 in Irvine. She was coming as the top seed in the 50 fly, and was ranked third coming in in the 100 back.
Another Junior Pan Pac roster member who is scratching as a top seed is Kaidy Stout, who was coming in ranked #1 in the girls’ 200 breast. Last week, Stout was the runner-up in the junior final of the 200 breast.
Other Junior Pan Pac roster members scratching on Day 4 are Kate McKinnon (#14) in the girls’ 200 free, Ellis Crisci (#9) and David Sammons (#25) in the boys’ 200 free, and Maddie Moreth (#4) in the girls’ 200 breast.
Thomas McMillan, who has not competed all week after racing at Nationals, has scratched the boys’ 100 back as the #2 seed along with the 50 fly as the 14th seed.
In the girls’ 200 free, top seed Madi Mintenko has dropped the event. She swam the 800 free at the beginning of the meet, setting a new best time of 8:36.77 en route to the victory. Last week at Nationals, she won the 400 free (4:04.54), placed third in the 200 free (1:55.87) and added a ninth-place finish in the 100 free (54.58), setting new PBs in all three.

Grace Perry, the 22nd seed in the girls’ 50 fly, has dropped that event in favor of the 200 free, where she’s now seeded in the top 10 with the scratches of Mintenko and Adalynn Biegler. Biegler, the #6 seed in the 200 free, has dropped the event after winning the 100 free earlier in the meet. She’s scheduled to race the 50 free on Friday. Lucy Velte, the 16th seed in the 200 free, has dropped the event in favor of the 50 fly, where she’s now seeded #2 with Brito’s scratch. Alba Arnall has dropped the girls’ 100 back as the 20th seed. She’s raced a busy program this week, with nine swims (including relays) through the first three days. Brayden Capen, who took fourth last night in the boys’ 200 back, has scratched the 100 back as the #8 seed. Aibat Myrzamuratov, the #2 seed in the boys’ 200 breast, has scratched out.
