A man’s backpack full of Molotov cocktails was discovered by police after he was arrested in a southwest suburb of Chicago early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Mokena police said that their officers responded just before 3 a.m. on Saturday to the area of 191st Street and LaGrange Road and arrested a man who was later identified as 31-year-old Oak Lawn man Hamed M. Alsaidi for “being in the roadway and obstructing officers by providing officers the false name.”
Alsaidi was wearing a backpack and had a blue blanket in his possession when he was arrested, police said.
Several Molotov cocktails — bottles filled with gasoline and stuffed with rags — were found inside his backpack, police said.
The FBI, State Fire Marshalls Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, all assisted police with the investigation.
Alsaidi is facing charges of unlawful use of a weapon and obstructing a peace officer and was detained by the Will County Jail, authorities said.
