The comedy-drama premiered on Disney+ in January, following aspiring actors Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley) as they attempt to make a name for themselves in the MCU's version of Hollywood.
Wonder Man earned high praise from critics, and an Emmy nomination for Abdul-Mateen II, with a second season being publicly announced in March. Three months later, that decision was reversed, leaving fans confused and disappointed.
Guest shared a remarkably honest video to his TikTok profile today, revealing that he feels "how you all feel," before clearing up some of the misconceptions that have circulated online in light of the news.
Guest emphasised that he and Spider-Man: Brand New Day filmmaker Cretton, along with lead actors Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley, "all loved making this show" and "all felt passionately about continuing to do it".
On the abrupt axing, Guest continued: "There was a decision made internally, between Disney and Marvel, that this didn't make sense for them – even though a few months ago it did. And that's essentially all I really know."
View Green Video on the source websiteThe announcement came mere days after two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali voiced frustration about his Blade movie's agonisingly slow demise, over a seven-year period in which contractual obligations limited which other roles he could take.
Additionally, Teyonah Parris is one of the MCU stars not yet confirmed for the Avengers: Doomsday cast, despite The Marvels' post-credits scene suggesting that Monica Rambeau would be in league with the Fox-era X-Men.
"There's important conversations being had online about the kinds of stories that we're prioritising, and the kind of shows that platforms want to make. I hope people are listening."
