Katy Aquatics Club 14-year-old Dhriti Upadhyaya swam 29.17 to win the 50 backstroke and take eight tenths off the 29.95 she set in June.
She finished four tenths ahead of Alexia Duncan, a rising junior at the University of Houston, who stopped the clock in 29.57.
Upadhyaya’s time will move her up to #1 in the 13-14 age group this season in the event, putting her almost four tenths ahead of Santa Clara Swim Club’s Aya Gillis-Pade.
The girls’ 200 breaststroke also went to a younger teenager with 15-year-old Haylee Pramono, from Aquazot Swim Club, swimming 2:32.13 to finish more than a second ahead of Swim Streamline 17-year-old Sloane Rocha.
Pramono took seven tenths off the 2:32.87 she swam in May and three seconds off her pre-season best of 2:35.14.
Ella Gaca Thile was the final high schooler to win an event, swimming 1:00.52 in the girls’ 100 fly to pick up her 3rd event win of the meet. The USC commit dropped four tenths from the 1:00.93 mark she set back in May.
All of the men’s events went to current college athletes, but the biggest drop came from Kiefer Roemer of Texas Ford Aquatics. The Missouri State rising sophomore won the men’s 200 breaststroke in 2:16.30, almost a full second ahead of Bolles School’s Louis Joos, who swam 2:17.15 for 2nd.
This swim was a four second drop for Roemer, who came into the meet at 2:20.88 from July of 2024. Joos took a second off his best of 2:18.06, which he set in May. Joos is committed to Yale for the fall.
Other Event Winners
Boys 50 back: John Simmons (BTA), 25.88 — Simmons, who just wrapped up his freshman year at Texas A&M, swam took three tenths off his former best time of 26.19 to swim 25.85 in prelims. He was slightly off that time in the final, but still won by seven tenths. Girls 400 free: Avery Dillon (KATY), 4:18.59 — 18-year-old Dillon, who will be starting her sophomore year at TCU in the fall, took four seconds off her previous best of 4:22.41, which she swam in July of 2025. Boys 400 free: Cooper McDonald (DYNA), 3:58.32 20 — Indiana’s McDonald, a rising junior, eked out the win in the 400 free by four tenths over Charlie Kulp, a rising sophomore at Duke. McDonald added four seconds from the 3:54.46 he set in May of 2024. Boys 100 Fly: Quint Erwin (CFSC), 54.09 — Rising TCU sophomore Erwin dropped nearly two seconds in the 100 fly from the 55.85 he swam in July of 2025. Girls 400 Free Relay: Bolles School Sharks, 3:51.99 — The team of Emmie Lewis (57.84), Maryn McDade (57.53), Sophie Oldham (58.89), and Ella Gotham (57.73), won by two seconds over Katy’s 3:54.09.
