Her 27.09 ties her as the 6th-fastest performer in history and comes as her second US National title this week.

Sara Curtis swam 27.07 at the Sette Colli, which ranks her 5th all-time; on Thursday, Bryn Greenwaldt won the B-Final in 27.83; and because the rich get richer, the 18 & Under final winner Alyssa Sagle (28.03) will join that group in a month.
As for Stadden, this continues a torrential run since joining the Cavaliers in December 2025 after completing her degree at Cal. This is now her 4th best time in the 50 back in just over 7 months (previous PB: 27.14 from Pro Swim in Indy). That joins with 2 best times in the 100 back, which she will swim later this week, and 2 best times in the 200 back, though she didn’t quite hit one in that race earlier this week.
The backstrokes are always brutal fields to emerge from for American women, but Stadden’s trajectory makes her hard to count out for LA28.
