Picasso said “Inspiration exists but it has to find you working.”
Inspiration involves a network of your brain’s functions. The key players are:
-Your prefrontal cortex, key to processing and integrating the rest of the brain functions.
-Your temporal lobes, playing their vital role in auditory processing and memory management.
-Your default mode network, active when your mind is at rest and wandering, daydreaming
When at rest the temporal lobes can generate creative connections that can lead to those surprising ‘aha’ moments of inspiration.
Muslim nation’s intellectual property laws are strongly influenced by the understanding that an inspiration is as the name suggests — it’s being informed by a divine spirit that provides the idea as a gift. The individual’s ownership rights over the product of that inspiration are protected but the community’s interests are respected with many more qualifications and shorter timelines for individual ownership than in Western cultures.
