Thank you!The TOZO Golden X1 earbuds combines hybrid dual-driver audio, effective ANC, wireless charging, and extensive app customization into a premium wireless earbud experience that delivers exceptional value.
I’ve gone through more wireless earbuds over the last few years than I honestly care to admit. Between long and loud work days on construction sites, writing reviews late into the night, or even just mowing the lawn I’ve learned that not all earbuds are created equal. Some have great sound but terrible battery life. Others fit well but sound like you’re listening through a pillow. Then there are the ones that promise “premium audio” only to disappoint the second you press play. That’s why I was excited to spend some time with the TOZO Golden X1, lets just see what the hype is on this top tier competitor with a budget friendly price tag.
TOZO has built a reputation for making affordable earbuds that end up performing well above their price point, but the Golden X1 isn’t trying to compete with budget earbuds. This is their flagship model, the pair they designed to show what they are capable of when they stop worrying about being the most affordable and instead focus on delivering a premium listening experience.
First Impressions.
The first thing I noticed wasn’t actually the earbuds, it was the charging case. Instead of looking overly flashy, the Golden X1 has a classy simple look to it. The gold TOZO logo gives it just enough class without feeling overdone. The case feels solid in your hand with a nice texture, closes with a satisfying magnetic snap, and includes a digital battery display that lets you know exactly how much charge is left, as well as a bar style gauge for right and left earbuds. It’s a small feature, but once you’ve had a battery percentage displayed on the case, it’s hard to go back to guessing based on a single blinking LED like the majority of budget friendly earbuds.
Inside the box, TOZO includes six different sizes of ear tips, a USB-C charging cable, and the usual paper work. Having so many ear tip options makes a huge difference because getting the proper seal is everything when it comes to sound quality and active noise cancellation.
Build Quality.
The earbuds themselves feel much more premium than I expected. Not quite airpod quality but they are lightweight without feeling fragile. At just under six grams per earbud, they never felt heavy during longer listening sessions, even while working outside or sitting in front of my computer writing.
The IPX6 water resistance rating also means I don’t have to worry about them if I’m caught in the rain or just sweating during a long day at work.
The TOZO Earbuds come in 4 colors, you can get them in Black, Champagne, a silvery blue, and a galaxy blue/black.
Pairing and Connectivity.
Setup couldn’t have been easier, to be fair I wasn’t expecting it to be difficult, they have been user friendly in the past and that hasn’t changed. All you have to do is open the case, pull out the earbuds, and Bluetooth pairing happens almost instantly.
Sound Quality
This is where the Golden X1 earns its flagship status. Unlike many earbuds that rely on a single driver, the Golden X1 uses a hybrid setup featuring a large 12mm dynamic driver paired with a premium Knowles balanced armature driver. That combination allows each driver to focus on what it does best—strong bass from the dynamic driver while the balanced armature handles vocals and higher frequencies with impressive detail.
If you have an Android phone that supports LDAC and you’re streaming high-quality music, you should definitely notice the improvement. While I am your standard iPhone user, we won’t benefit from LDAC, but the AAC performance is still excellent
The Bass is deep, powerful, and satisfying without becoming muddy. Kick drums have impact and Electronic music feels energetic while Hip-hop delivers the low-end punch you’d expect. You can still clearly hear vocals and instruments instead of everything blending together into one giant wall of sound. The vocals sound natural, acoustic guitars have warmth, and dialogue in movies remains easy to understand. Whether I was listening to rock, country, podcasts, or YouTube videos, voices consistently came through crisp and clear.
For earbuds, the soundstage is impressive. Instruments feel separated instead of stacked on top of one another. Live recordings especially benefit from this wider presentation. It isn’t quite headphone-level, but it’s definitely above average for true wireless earbuds.
Active Noise Cancellation.
TOZO advertises hybrid ANC capable of reducing a significant amount of outside noise, and I’d say it lives up to expectations, but doesn’t quite exceed them, although I do ask a lot out of them.
I’d say it can handle blocking out the noise from Air conditioners, Fans, Road noise, Office chatter and anything that most people would encounter in their daily lives. No, it isn’t quite on the same level as earbuds costing twice as much from Apple, Sony, or Bose, but it’s closer than I expected, especially for the price. The transparency mode also works surprisingly well. Instead of sounding robotic or artificial, conversations remain natural enough that I could leave the earbuds in while talking with someone without constantly pulling one out.
One thing I have appreciated was when on phone calls the call quality has become very clear, I spend plenty of time taking calls while driving or walking around job sites, and the Golden X1 has been great at picking up just my voice for those on the other side. People on the other end consistently said I sounded clear, even with the windows down in the car.
TOZO App.
Apps can become something of a nuisance more than a friend behind the scenes. With the TOZO app you can customize touch controls, switch between multiple ANC modes, access 16 EQ presets, create your own EQ, use EarPrint hearing customization, update firmware, adjust listening preferences and much more!
The EarPrint feature is particularly interesting because it measures your hearing and adjusts audio specifically for your ears. It’s one of those features that sounds gimmicky until you actually try it. After running the test, music genuinely sounded a little more balanced to my ears. Having the right tips is a must.
Battery Life.
Battery life is solid, with ANC disabled I got close to the advertised eight hours on a charge. Turn ANC on, and you’re looking at roughly five hours depending on volume levels. The charging case extends total listening time to around 32 hours while supporting both USB-C and wireless charging.
Price.
You can head on over to TOZO’S main webpage and find the Golden X1’s for a listed price of $149.99 but has frequent sales like the current 13% off making it $129.99 Or you can always head over to Amazon. You can sometimes find certain colors on sale so keep your eyes peeled for even more deals!
User Experience.
So originally I had planned on these being my wife’s headphones, they were a small earbud that they really liked with a nice premium look. She used them for a few days but ended up going back to her old pair for one reason and one reason only, the case felt a little bulky in her pocket haha, she loved everything else about them besides the shape! So now they are mine to bring to work with me, my last pair I absolutely loved but one of the ear buds stopped working so I was happy to take these and give them a try for myself!
When I’m on a job, it can be very loud so much that even top of the line earbuds have a hard time blocking everything out with ANC on, so I tend to still throw on a pair of earmuffs to really help with noise isolation. That being said, between not having the best ANC out there and the volume being a bit lower than I’d like on a very loud job site, the size of them makes it so you don’t even notice them when you put the earmuffs on.
The battery life is really good too, for the size I was impressed to get more than four hours out of them, between the times I toss them in the case for a few minutes to talk to other trades or take lunch, I never had them die on me even on my 12 hour days! The sound quality is actually pretty impressive at this price, the only thing I could say is I wish the volume was a little louder! Whether I was watching shows while working or sitting at my desk writing reviews, the Golden X1 consistently delivered excellent audio at a price that makes you feel like you have a premium pair of earbuds in.
Conclusion.
The TOZO Golden X1 feels like the company decided to prove they could compete with the big names rather than simply make another budget earbud. And honestly they succeeded. Between the impressive hybrid driver setup, LDAC support, customizable sound profile, comfortable fit, dependable battery life, and strong active noise cancellation, the Golden X1 delivers a listening experience that feels far more expensive than its typical selling price. If you’re shopping in the mid-range wireless earbud market and don’t want to spend flagship money from Apple, Sony, or Bose, the TOZO Golden X1 deserves to be near the top of your list.
The TOZO Golden X1 proves that premium sound doesn’t always require a premium price tag. It’s one of those products that quietly exceeds expectations, and after spending time with it I understand why it should be on a top selling list! Thank you guys for reading and I hope I helped you decide if these were the wireless earbuds for you!
