VICTOR, N.Y. — People in Victor are still cleaning up from the aftermath of Saturday’s storm.
News10NBC’s Declan Stablow was in Victor for the storm, and has gone back out every day to check on the clean-up efforts. Homeowner Randy Shea told News10NBC he’s lived in Victor for 30 years but he’s never seen a storm like Saturday’s.
Shea had multiple trees come down on his property during the storm. Tree limbs were piled up on the hill behind his house, with one tree snapped in half.
Shea says he spends over 40 hours a year taking care of the trees in his yard. He told Declan the trees in his yard were healthy and he even removed some risky-looking ones before the storm. So, he doesn’t think he could have done much more to prevent the damage.
Tree removal usually comes with a hefty price tag.
Since his situation doesn’t seem like an emergency, Shea plans to wait to get the trees removed, and hopefully at a lower cost.
“The cost from arborist can be expensive. I think priority wise, you got to deal with the emergencies first, and probably in a crisis situation, it might be more expensive right now, but if in situations like mine where you could probably wait a month or two, probably I’ll be able to get a more affordable rate,” Shea said.
Shea doubts his insurance will cover the removal costs. But he did mention the community has come together to help each other out.
The Village of Victor said it hasn’t heard about any serious injuries from the storm.
