For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Brazilian native Daniel Bordin has announced his commitment to swim and study at Colorado Mesa University beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

Happy to announce my commitment to Colorado Mesa University. I want to thank Coach Andy, Wender and Joao for this amazing opportunity! Excited to become a Maverick!

Bordin is from Sao Paulo, where he trains with Esporte Clube Pinheiros and primarily specializes in sprint freestyle.

Bordin set all of his current short course meters lifetime bests at the São Paulo State Junior Summer Championships in December, clocking times of 22.28 in the 50 free, 49.13 in the 100 free, and 1:48.46 in the 200 free.

Most of Bordin’s top long course times still stand from the end of the 2025 season. He posted lifetime bests in the 100 free (51.02) and 200 free (1:55.96) at the Brazilian Interclub Junior Winter Championships, and logged a personal best in the 50 free (23.15) at the José Finkel Trophy in November.

More recently, Bordin competed at the 2026 Brazilian Championships (LCM) in April. He finished 29th in the 50 free (23.43), 33rd in the 100 free (51.15, SB), and 41st in the 200 free (1:58.06, SB), though his season best in the 50 free is 23.21, set earlier in the year.

Top Times, SCM/LCM (Fastest SCY Conversion):

50 Freestyle: 22.28/23.15 (20.07) 100 Freestyle: 49.13/51.02 (44.26) 200 Freestyle: 1:48.46/1:55.96 (1:37.71)

A Division II program, Colorado Mesa competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, with the men’s and women’s teams clinching their eighth consecutive sweep at this past season’s conference championships. The men sent 18 athletes to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division II Championship, where they finished third overall.

Based on the results from the 2026 RMAC Championships, Bordin’s converted times would have placed second in the 50 free and 100 free, and third in the 200 free, setting him up to be a key contributor right from the start.

The full list of recruits set to join Bordin in Colorado in the fall includes Marcus Witkowski, Jake Barela, Emerson Tully, Denny Woods, Brody Blatt, Brix Dewitt, Austin Felio and Brady Bennett, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
