ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday morning after a jury found him guilty of a double shooting outside of a home on Alphonse Street on the city’s northeast side.
Michael Garcia was found guilty of killing a 17-year-old girl, who Rochester Police say was not the intended target, and injuring a man in his 30s. The shooting happened in April of 2025.
Police say Garcia, 18 at the time, went up to the porch and opened fire around 1:30 a.m. Garcia was arrested later that day in Brockport during an hours-long SWAT investigation. The teenage victim, Danyelisse Pabon-Cubero, died of her injuries days later.
Michael Garcia was convicted of murder, attempted murder, assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. His sentencing will be in Monroe County Court.
