One of Jodie Sweetin’s memories of Bob Saget began with a Janet Jackson concert—and took a frightening turn before they even got inside.
At a Full House cast panel at ‘90s Con on Sunday, October 18, Sweetin recalled sitting in a car with Saget when the window suddenly shattered. “It was a drive-by,” she said, per PEOPLE. “I leaned over to tie my shoes and it’s just like ‘pop pop pop’ and the whole thing shattered.”
The incident happened in the late ’80s or early ’90s, she said. Sweetin and Saget ran from the car and had to wait for two station-wagon taxis to pick them up. They ended up arriving late to the concert. Afterward, Saget drove the young actor home and explained to her mother what had happened.
“So between that and the Laugh Factory, Bob was not always my mom’s favorite,” Sweetin joked during the panel.
Sweetin’s story was one of several memories shared as the former castmates gathered to talk about the sitcom and Saget, who played her on-screen father, Danny Tanner. The comedian died on January 9, 2022, at 65, after suffering blunt head trauma in an unwitnessed fall.
Sweetin said she sometimes still wonders whether the frightening memory really happened. “I was there and I doubt that it happened, but it actually did,” she said.
She also reflected on how Saget would feel about the cast continuing to talk about him. “Bob’s just glad we’re all still talking about him. Really, truly. Bob just loves to know that he’s still the main topic of conversation. He is the best in ways and yes, we love him.”

His widow, Kelly Rizzo, recently reflected on grief in an Instagram post earlier this month, writing, “Grief morphs and changes forms and evolves over time. It’s always still there. It just has different personalities from month to month and year to year.”
Rizzo shared that she is still adjusting to the permanence of the loss, including the realization that there will never be another new photo of Saget. She also admitted, “I still feel guilty for feeling happy.”
The two met on social media in 2015 and married in Santa Monica, California, in October 2018.
