A death investigation is underway in Evanston after an 8-year-girl was found unresponsive inside a residence.
About 11:36 p.m., police and fire officials responded to a home in the 800 block of Ridge Avenue for a report of an unresponsive 8-year-old child.
The child, a girl, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead, the Evanston Police Department said.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, the girl was identified as Royalt ‘ii Hentz. The girl’s cause and manner of death remain under investigation, police said.
Evanston police added that there was no indication of a threat to the community. No further detials were released.
“Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will not be providing additional comment,” police said.
