Beautiful things can happen when two musicians come together on stage the way Megan Moroney and Benson Boone did on Thursday night (July 9).
The country singer-songwriter surprised her crowd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., with a guest appearance from the pop star, who joined her after she sang her hit “Beautiful Things.” The pair then dove into a duet of Boone’s song of the same name, with Moroney at one point quipping, “Why not ‘Beautiful Things’ twice in one night?” according to People.
In a video captured by the publication, Boone wears Moroney’s signature color — pink — while singing the lyrics to his track, gesturing in awe at the CMA Award winner when she takes over. “And I thank God every day/ For the girl He sent my way,” she croons.
Boone’s “Beautiful Things” dropped in 2024, quickly becoming his breakout single. The track peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 89 weeks on the chart, supported by a number of live performances where Boone backflips on stage. Moroney’s song with the same title came out last year, debuting on the Hot 100 in November before climbing to its No. 32 peak in March.
Both stars are currently on tour, with the Barclays show coming amid Moroney’s tour supporting Cloud 9, her Billboard 200-topping third album. Boone kicked off his Wanted Man Tour in Pittsburgh on Tuesday (July 7). Now that Moroney’s performance at the Brooklyn arena is in the books, Boone will take over for two nights at the venue for the next shows on his trek on Friday (July 10) and Saturday (July 11).
